The lithographic printing process makes use of aluminum plates, ink and chemistry to transfer images onto paper, cardboard and many other substrates. The different colours that make up the image are processed separately, each onto their own plate. The plates are then set up onto the press which then use vegetable based oil inks and water to transfer the image onto the substrate or material of choice.

Our lithographic department houses an array of Komori Presses, which are known as the greenest presses in the world. As global print machinery producers, Komori places great importance on environmental and social responsibility. Producing and designing energy efficient presses at their accredited sites through impact studies, life-cycle and preventative pollution assessments.

Colour Magic are also avid recyclers. We recycle paper and our used aluminum printing plates. The misconception is that replacing printed products with digital material is an Eco-friendly solution. However, while we all love our digital devices, their production is incredibly detrimental to the environment and they are designed to be come obsolete. Once discarded end up on our landfills, filling the earth with plastic and chemicals. Printing on paper is responsible, recyclable and renewable. Paper can be recycled 5-7 times in its lifetime, and keeps the worlds forests relevant and avoids deforestation for development. All paper sourced by Colour Magic is FSC Accredited.
